PLACES OF INTEREST
The streets of Salou are not only appealing for their popular bars and restaurants, as you ramble through them you will be surprised how much more than a tourist resort , Salou proves to be.

FARO DE SALOU-(Salou Lighthouse)
Faro de Salou is an enormous lighthouse, extending on 10,000 sq metres of ground. It offers a spectacular viewpoint from the cliff, surrounded by pine trees, garden and local flora.
Faro de Salou is of great importance to the coast of Tarragona. It has three main objectives: its light source covers 20 miles and helps navigate ships along the rugged coast; producing radar frequencies locating the coastline for ships; GPS system for the localizing of ships via satellite.

FONT LLUMINOSA-(Fountain of Light)
Font Lluminosa designed by architect Carles Bulgas, who is famous for his work Fuente de Montjuic in Barcelona is a must see in the summer months, when it offers a spectacular display of water and light. It is located at the bottom of Paseo Jaume I.

PARC DE SALOU
During the summer months this vibrant park is full of activities for everyone to enjoy. Formally used as a campsite, this vibrant park is engulfed with pine trees, Mediterranean plants and flowers, perfect for a relaxing, walking or cycling. Parc de Salou is located on Charles Buígas Street.

PASEO JAIME I
To walk Paseo Jamie I is necessary while in Salou; it truly captures the vibrant atmospheres of Salou. The one kilometre walk is as long as the Levante beach, and is well known for its variety of palm trees and plants. The tiled pavement displays a wide array of coats of arms from the noble men that ventured to Majorca alongside King Jaime I. Fountains, parks and all the necessary services are located between the Paseo Jaime I and the beach.

PASEO MIRAMAR
This walk connects the municipality of Salou with that of Cambrils and goes along the Poniente beach and is also lined with palm trees. You can walk down to Cambrils as you watch the beach close up.

TORRE VELLA
Torre Vella was built in 1530 as a watchtower in order to protect Salou from pirate and corsair lootings. The Archbishop of Tarragona, Pere de Cardona, ordered its construction in the old district of Barenys, after constant turmoil being created by these villains.
Today, Torre Vella is alive with culture, offering various art exhibitions in its halls from Easter to October. The garden consists of a sculpture by Aldom Puig, Danse de les Gr showing three damsels dancing a sardana . This sculpture was set in 1990 to mark the appointment of Salou as Ciudad Pubilla de la Sardana.

Along with housing temporary art exhibitions, Torre Vella is the home of the Museo Municipal de Esmalte Contemporaneo (MECS), where you can admire fine examples of enamel collections showing a wide variety of techniques and styles by artist from around the world. MASIA CATALANA
Masia Catalana is a replica of traditional ancient Spanish dwelling area. Offering the tourist a trip back in time by displaying a wide range of payesia, (traditional tools) along with farm animals usually found in the masia, (traditional farm). It also uses a real donkey to turn the waterwheel which irrigates the vegetable garden. An enjoyable way for all the family to spend the afternoon.
In summer a handicrafts market is set up, perfect for those traditional gifts! At Christmas a truly traditional crib is displayed. Masia Catalana is located at 50 Carles Buigas.


MONUMENT A JAUME I
This interesting piece of architecture was built in 1965 and is dedicated to the memory of King Jaume 1. King Jaume 1, left the port of Solou in 1229 in order to conquer the lands of Majorca from the sarrainos people. This monument was designed by the architect Ripoll and sculpted by Saumells and is located in the centre of Paseo de Jaume I.

CASA BONET
This modernist style house is a prime example of the architectural style that influenced the traditional houses such as the Chalet Voramar or Casa Bonet. It is a work by Domènech Sugranyes I Gras, a student of the master architect Gaudi.

XALET TORREMAR
This remarkable house is one of the traditional holidaymakers built in Salou in the 1920s and 1940s. This two-story house boasts two modernist towers of enormous dimension that finely decorate the interior. This house of heritage is home of the Patronato de Turismo de Salou, and caters for many formal events in Salou.

ESGLESIA DE STA. MARÍA DEL MAR
This chapel originally consisted of only one nave, subsequently it has been renovated numerous times over the last century. The murals of the church were painted by Lluìs Maria Gúell between 1954 and 1966. These paintings together with those of the baptistery were created by Josep Grau-Garriga, from 1964.

ESGLESIA DE SANT RAMON-(Church of Saint Ramon)
This newly constructed spacious church shares a modern touch of both religion and architectural interest. The church consists only of a nave and also houses a small chapel dedicated to the Virgen del Pilar.

CENTRE CIVIC
This is a three-story building, complete with auditorium, offers several rooms for a wide range of activities and exhibitions. Some of them are used for associations and entities such as: Baile de diablos, Colla de Gigantes, Grup de Dones, A. V. Salauris, A. Amics de l’Esmalt, Contrapunt d’Onades, Radioaficionados, Agrupación Fotográfica, etc.

BIBLIOTECA PUBLICA-(Public library)
This two-story terraced building offers an extensive range of books, newspapers, archives with more private reading rooms, working area, video library rooms etc. Some rooms are also used for minor events located on the first floor. The popular Independence Day Celebrations are also held at this location in October.
